Breath

Sad iris

Two iris, white peels cow down
Sad flowers if ever there were.
Slow gait of Sarah’s black retriever,
I before E except after C, she said.

Slow gait of dying dogs is sadly missed
Save for dying old men smoking strong
Cigarettes. One held Sarah down, another
Held her small hand when, slow dog died.

Ice is cold but melts the bite of good
Vodka. Still the clear taste hides not
well, among the water, though looking
very similar. Two iris, white peels fall.
